Anaplastic Astrocytoma stage 3

Hi, I am looking to talk with someone who has been diagnosed with stage (grade) 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. My dad was diagnosed in January of 2016, he also underwent surgery in January of 2016. Unfortunately, they were unable to remove the whole tumor. Following the surgery, he aggressive radiation and chemotherapy for 7 straight weeks. After recovering from that, he was getting chemotherapy at the hospital and eventually started he started chemo from home in pill form. They have now stopped Chemo over 6 months ago and he goes every 3 months for an MRI. I don't want to get to much into his story until I know if this site is active. If anyone sees this please get back to me. I have so many questions. Thank you so much and I wish all of you on this site the best. ❤

  • Hello,
It is so understandable that you have a lot of questions. I have had a brain tumor since 2006 and was recently upgraded to an Anaplastic Astrocytoma. I am currently doing chemo and radiation. Please be careful in what you read because they are just giving an average. If I believed what I read back in 2006, I wouldn't be alive today. If I can help you in anyway, I will answer your questions.
  • I am new to this site and I was so happy to read your post. I am thankful that you are doing well. My husband has grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma since June 2017. He has done radiation and is still doing the chemo pill. Unfortunately, the tumor has grown back. We will be seeing the neurosurgeon this week to see if it is possible to remove it for the second time in 1 year. I am happy to hear you say "be careful what you read" because what I read scares the s**t out of me! I was just wondering in what location your tumor is in and if it was ever removed? Or is it inoperable? Blessings to you Annette

I have been diagnosed with a inoperable astrocytoma in Dec 17 after waking up having a seizure (never had one before) they said it was low grade 1 after having a biopsy they said it is grade 2 .Ihad 6 weeks daily radiotherapy and it was discovered early in the treatment the tumour is now a grade 3 . After the radio I had 4 weeks recovery with no treatment and have just started Temozolomide chemotherapy capsules .I am having 4 week cycles so 5 days chemo and 23 days later blood tests and then start again .I was told this will be for 12 months. Is anyone else having or had the same i.e. inoperable as I would like to read your experiences
