SEATTLE, WA — February 23rd, 2026 — More than 85,000 adolescents and young adults (AYA) are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States, yet their unique experiences are often overlooked.  Stupid Cancer®, the leader in building the AYA cancer community, today announced CancerCon® 2026, the nation’s largest conference dedicated to people diagnosed with cancer between ages 15 and 39. The event will bring together over three hundred young cancer survivors, caregivers, and healthcare advocates at the Hyatt Regency in Seattle from April 30th to May 3rd, to connect, learn, and build community. 

The event features expert-led workshops, survivor panels, and social programming designed specifically for AYA challenges, including mental health, financial hardship, career disruption, and isolation. At a time when only 31% of AYAs report receiving resources through their cancer institutions on these issues, CancerCon is a critical resource for this demographic. The gaps in care for AYA patients as a result of limited healthcare provider training on AYA-specific issues are showcased in Stupid Cancer’s Access to Care Project abstract.

“As a result of our research with Cancer Nation, we know young adults with cancer feel isolated and invisible in the healthcare system, resulting in mental health challenges, including depression and anxiety (57%), which is significantly higher when compared to counterparts over the age of 40,” said Alison Silberman, CEO of Stupid Cancer. “As diagnoses are on the rise for AYAs, it’s critical to ensure this population receives the support they need – not just to survive, but to thrive. That’s what CancerCon is all about, to make cancer suck less for this population.”

Seattle was selected as the host city in recognition of its leadership in healthcare and its active survivor community. The event highlights the growing movement to improve support for young adult cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
