Any information provided herein should not be considered complete and should never be used in place of a visit, call, consultation or advice of your physician or other health care provider. PRIVACY POLICY

 1. GENERAL. This policy describes how SC treats information that it may receive directly from you or automatically through your computer or mobile device. This policy does not apply to the practices and actions of persons or entities that SC does not control, manage or employ.

SC knows that you care how information about you is used. If after reading about our privacy policy you have additional questions, please contact us.

2. INFORMATON WE COLLECT. You can browse our website without telling us who you are or giving us any personal information. When you interact with us through your computer or mobile device, our website does record certain non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of hits and visits to our website.

SC does collect personal information when you register with us to make a donation, to purchase merchandise or to participate in an event. We ask for information such as your name, address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address, date of birth, whether you are a cancer survivor and your gender. Once you provide us with this information, you are no longer anonymous to us.

Additionally, our website employs “cookies,” which are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser. We use “cookies” to perform three functions: (1) to let us know how long you are logged on to our website and to automatically log you out if you are inactive for more than thirty minutes; (2) to store your user ID and password so that when you return to our website you won’t have to re-enter some or all of that information; and (3) to provide us with statistics regarding what pages of our website you visited, and the time you spent viewing each page.

You may configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is sent. However, when accessing an area that requires a password for entry, cookies are not optional, and you will be unable to proceed through the password-protected area if you opt to reject cookies.

3. USE OF INFORMATION.

SC does not sell, share or disclose personal information with persons or entities not affiliated with or employed by SC, except with your consent or when we reasonably determine it necessary to do so in order to comply with law or protect the safety, property or legal rights of SC or others. SC does occasionally share the addresses of our members with affiliated organizations with whom SC has a common interest.

SC does employ persons or entities to perform functions on our behalf, such as fulfilling merchandise orders, sending postal and e-mail and processing credit card payments. Such persons or entities have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use such information for any other purpose.

SC has contractual arrangements with certain partners to provide information and services through our website. Each of these partners may set and access cookies on your computer through our website. The use of such “cookies” by each of these partners is subject to their respective privacy policies, not the privacy policy of SC. We believe these partners share a similar commitment to privacy and urge you to review their privacy policies when visiting their sites. However, we cannot be responsible for their treatment of your information.

4. SECURITY.

SC works to protect the security of your information during transmissions by using industry standard practices, including firewalls and Secure Sockets Layer software, which encrypts information you input. We reveal only the last five digits of your credit card numbers during registration confirmation, although the entire credit card number is transmitted to the appropriate credit card company during processing. While we use several different techniques and policies to ensure the security of your personal information from unauthorized access and use, you should be aware that absolute security does not exist for information on the Internet. In this regard, it is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer.
