Discussion Sessions: Reducing Isolation and Building Community
For better or for worse, there is no manual for navigating the emotional & social challenges of survivorship, particularly isolation and feelings of loneliness. Even though survivorship is different for everyone, experiences with isolation and loneliness are common threads that connect survivors and caregivers together. Join Stupid Cancer this month to connect with other AYAs over shared experiences of navigating isolation and loneliness, while learning strategies to build and maintain community.
You Are Not Alone: May 13
AYA cancer survivorship can be an isolating and lonely experience. There usually aren’t many opportunities to connect with other AYA survivors where you receive treatment, at support groups, and in social settings. People in your life who love and support you try, but sometimes they can’t relate. It’s really tough. But there IS a community for you, and you are not alone. Join this Discussion Session to explore isolation experienced in survivorship while connecting with other AYAs who get it!
Building Connection & Community: May 20
It’s hard to establish connections with others. It’s scary to put yourself out there and be vulnerable, but the risk can be very rewarding; you may finally find your people. Join this Discussion Session to explore ways to establish a sense of community, all while taking a step in developing connections with other AYAs!
