Discussion Sessions: Self-Advocacy
As members of an underserved patient population, AYAs must advocate for themselves each day. Many people can support you in your self-advocacy efforts, but you are always your own best advocate. Join this two part Discussion Series to learn more about the power of advocating for yourself and strategies to make self-advocacy feel doable, all while connecting with other AYAs who get it!
Self-Advocacy Part 1: April 8
It can be a huge challenge to coordinate your care and access all the support you need. From misdiagnosis to access to quality care, many AYAs must advocate for themselves throughout symptom onset, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term survivorship just to receive the care they deserve. Join this Discussion Session to explore the self-advocacy skills you need to be your own best patient advocate!
Self-Advocacy Part 2: April 15
For better or worse, there is no clear roadmap for self-advocacy. It is a deeply personal journey influenced by so many different experiences, experiences that can be turned into advocacy. Whether you’re just beginning your advocacy journey or looking for new ways to make an impact, this Discussion Session will present creative outlets for raising awareness, inspiring others, and making a difference in the AYA cancer community.
